Public hearings seek feedback on 2020-21 submitted budget

KCMO Speak Easy Sessions: Public Budget Hearings

The City is inviting you to attend one, two or even all three of the public meetings that have been set to talk about the budget being submitted for the 2020-21 fiscal year. The proposed budget is going to the City Council on Feb. 13 and is scheduled for adoption on March 26. So these meetings are your best opportunities to let council members hear directly from you so that they can know the priorities you value most. The budget hearings are set for:

  • Saturday, Feb. 29, 9-11 a.m.; Southeast Community Center, 4201 E. 63rd St.

  • Tuesday, March 3, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; KC Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave.

  • Saturday, March 7, 9-11 a.m.; RB Doolin Center, 2000 N 46th St.

By charter, the City is required to hold a public hearing between the time the budget is submitted and when it is adopted. We routinely hold multiple hearings to accommodate various schedules in addition to making it more convenient for residents all over the city.

To help make these meetings more meaningful for participants, the Mayor, council members, department heads and experts from various divisions regularly attend so that they can answer questions on the spot.

Please register for the session you'd like to attend.
