Because the area in question is already zoned "Light Industrial", we are told there are no zoning variances that would be required.
We do understand that there is still a chance to weigh in with the RKCDC on the tax abatement which would give the Lewellen's a pass on 75% of their property taxes for 20 years.
We also heard that the development firm (EPC Real Estate) has not been asked by RKCDC for a third party financial analysis before awarding this incentive and that EPC does not intend to provide that analysis if they are not asked for it.
