Kansas City Public Schools Budget Priorities

KCPS is planning for the upcoming 2023-24 school year and want to hear from you about what you think of their eight budget priorities. These priorities are designed to address the needs of students and schools, and your input is essential to creating a better future for everyone. The eight budget priorities are:

  1. Increasing teacher salaries

  2. Reading, math, and academic interventionists

  3. Family and community engagement liaisons in each school

  4. Hiring building substitutes

  5. Elementary instrumental music for grades 4-6

  6. Providing high-dosage tutoring

  7. "Beyond the Four Wall" field trips

  8. School Safety

Community members, students, teachers, and parents have a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and they want to tap into that by inviting you to participate in two interactive activities. KCPS wants your opinions on how these priorities should be ranked and if there are any other priorities that you think the district should consider.

To participate, please check out our two activities:

  1. BALANCING ACT - where you can balance the budget priorities and see how your choices rank in order of what you consider most important to you. https://kc_public_schools.abalancingact.com/kcps-budget-priorities-2023-24

  2. BUDGET SURVEY - where you can tell us more about what you think of the 2023-24 Budget Priorities and offer feedback on any other considerations. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=keafEyTXckSr3R8wc0hJVeUEjkDKGq9NgYMLfKGUzURUQzU1UEMyQjVNM0paSjUzSVJKQ0xQVU41NC4u

And, as a token of our appreciation for your input, everyone who participates will be given the opportunity to be entered into a raffle for gift cards.
