Your invitation to see Art in Kansas City

Open Spaces is a citywide, family-friendly arts festival that will take place from August 25, 2018, through October 28, 2018, on a scale previously unseen in the City.


With Swope Park as its hub and radiating throughout the city and the region, this 9-week, citywide celebration will transform Kansas City into a center of artistic expression filled with performances, art installations, food, music, and more.

Open Spaces will showcase art by more than 200 international, national and local visual and performing artists and creatives. Here are 4 ways we invite you to participate:


· FREE: The Exhibition – 40+ contemporary art installations by the artists will be exhibited from August 25 through October 28, 2018 throughout Swope Park and Kansas City, Missouri.


· FREE: The Village – Every weekend, visitors can explore a variety of art offerings at the Village Pavilion 1 in Swope Park. Take in a dance or music performance, purchase food and hand-crafted items by local vendors, enjoy family activities or browse through the pavilions designed by some of Kansas City’s finest architects.


· TICKETED: The Weekend - From October 12 through 14 iconic artists like Janelle Monáe, The Roots, and Vijay Iyer Sextet performs at Starlight Theatre. 


· FREE: The Expanded Field – Partake in local, independent projects, such as art exhibitions, galleries and public artworks that celebrate the spirit of Open Spaces. Some projects are free and ticketed.
